India’s Defense Research and Development Organization has conducted two successful flight tests of the Indian Army’s version of a medium-range surface-to-air missile (MRSAM).
Flight tests were carried out as part of direct fire trials against high-speed air targets and the missiles were successful in intercepting and destroying the air targets completely, scoring direct hits in both areas of testing.
The first launch was to intercept a medium-altitude long-range target, while the second was to demonstrate the capability of the missile against a short-range target at a low altitude.
The MRSAM is a surface-to-air missile developed for the Indian Army and consists of a multifunctional radar, mobile launch system and other vehicles.
