Australian Navy Successfully Tests Naval Strike Missile

The Royal Australian Navy has successfully tested the Naval Strike Missile (NSM) aboard the Hobart-class destroyer HMAS Sydney.

During the exercise, hosted by the US Navy off the coast of Hawaii, HMAS Sydney launched the missile in a simulated strike against the decommissioned American aircraft carrier USS Tarawa (LHA-1).

This event marks a pivotal step in achieving Australia’s National Defence Strategy goals, enhancing the Navy’s operational capabilities, and strengthening cooperation with international allies and industry partners.

The NSM is set to replace the ageing Harpoon weapon system, providing enhanced long-range maritime strike capabilities.

Furthermore, the HMAS Sydney is now equipped to deliver robust air defence and maritime protection.
