This accomplishment reflects the dedication and commitment of the UAE’s healthcare professionals and institutions.
Following is the full text of his statement:
“On 7th April of every year, the world celebrates World Health Day, on which the World Health Organisation (WHO) chooses to highlight a specific health issue of concern to all mankind.
Furthermore, this year’s World Health Day is special, as it coincides with the 75th anniversary of the organisation’s foundation.
In 1948, different countries worldwide met to establish the organisation aimed at promoting health and maintaining a safer and healthier world.
The organisation chose ‘Health for All’ as this year’s slogan, to encourage everyone to give the public health field another look, as success in this field is a key factor in determining the quality of life and an opportunity to motivate people to work on facing contemporary and future health challenges.
The UAE is one of the leading countries in the world in various medical fields, evidenced by its success in confronting the COVID-19 pandemic.
The UAE was among the first countries to face this disease professionally, and even though there was a lot of ambiguity surrounding the pandemic, with the support and direct follow-up of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the path was clear to us.
The people of the UAE have not forgotten His Highness’ famous words “Don’t worry”, which stopped the wave of panic, fear and ambiguity that swept the world, and from then on the health system could move at a steady pace despite the challenges, to eventually overcome the global pandemic.
The Medical Services Corps plays an effective and major role in promoting public health in the UAE, and 2022 was an extension of this role, as the Medical Services Corps continued its battle against the pandemic.
From the spike in the number of cases at the beginning of 2021 until the announcement of the end of most precautionary measures in the country, the Medical Services Corps worked shoulder-to-shoulder with the civilian health authorities to contain the spread of the virus.
Moreover, 2022 saw a rise in health education and awareness regarding primary health measures, which help protect society from various diseases.”
