A Decade of Achievements: The UAE Celebrates Ten Years of National Service Law

As the United Arab Emirates celebrates its 53rd National Day, the Ministry of Defence marked another milestone with a grand ceremony commemorating ten years since the enactment of the National and Reserve Service Law. The event highlighted the transformative achievements of the law’s first decade, underscoring its positive impact on strengthening loyalty, unity, and national cohesion.

Since its introduction in 2014, the National Service Law has resonated positively with Emirati society, particularly among the youth. From day one, young Emiratis rallied around the wise leadership, recognising the immense responsibility placed upon them. They proudly joined recruitment centres, driven by a sense of gratitude and pride in a nation that has given them so muand ch. Their actions reflected unparalleled national unity, embodying a collective commitment to safeguarding the UAE as they embraced the Armed Forces as the nation’s shield, sword, and fortress of resilience.

The law was born out of a vision to nurture national consciousness, safeguard the union’s achievements, and uphold the UAE’s identity. It aims to prepare generations capable of defending their homeland and its resources. Its enactment is a testament to the UAE’s prudent leadership and its unwavering commitment to the nation’s well-being. Inspired by the founding fathers, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the law continues to build a future rooted in knowledge, loyalty, and unity.

Moreover, Emirati women played a significant role in this journey, standing shoulder-to-shoulder with men, excelling in various fields, including military service. With unwavering support from the leadership, women have risen to leadership roles in the armed forces, proving their competence and setting an example for the region and beyond.

This spirit of dedication and unity was epitomised in a gathering witnessed by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, in Abu Dhabi’s Al Samih region.

The occasion celebrated a decade of the National Service Law, paying tribute to the Armed Forces and the selfless youth of the UAE. It reflected the essence of loyalty and belonging, reaffirming the pride of the nation’s leadership in the achievements of the armed forces and the enduring legacy being built by Emirati youth, whose heroic contributions are etched in history.
