China Tests AG600 Amphibious Aircraft

The Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) has announced the successful completion of final flight tests for its AG600 Jiaolong amphibious aircraft.

The AG600 is part of China’s large aircraft program, alongside the Y-20 military transport aircraft and the C919 commercial airliner.

Designed for specialised civil operations, the AG600 is intended for firefighting, maritime search and rescue, and disaster response missions.

The aircraft has undergone extensive research, development, compliance, and certification testing. These trials included 2,014 test flights, 10,648 test points, and 3,560 flight hours, setting a record for flight testing of new large aircraft during the research phase in China.

With its capabilities tailored for civil emergency operations, the AG600 is expected to play a crucial role in wildfire suppression and maritime rescue efforts, enhancing China’s disaster response infrastructure.
