Egypt International Airshow: A Global Platform for Aviation Cooperation

The inaugural Egypt International Airshow 2024 was launched on September 3, 2024, under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, the President of Egypt and Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

Held at Alamein International Airport, this event spanned three days and brought together key global aviation and aerospace players.

 

Recognised as a unique international event in aviation and space for  Africa and the Middle East, the show featured aerial displays from over 300 companies and organisations representing more than 100 countries.

These participants showcased a range of civil, military, and unmanned aircraft, introducing new and cutting-edge models to the market.

 

The exhibition aimed to support the development of manufacturing and digitalisation within the aviation, defence, and space industries.

It served as a crucial platform for space agencies and aviation companies to discuss advancements in space exploration, satellite communications, and the civil and military applications of space technology.

Additionally, the event offered an opportunity to present innovative ideas that will shape the future of global aviation, while showcasing the latest technological developments to industry leaders and stakeholders and fostering new partnerships that are set to influence the future of the industry.

Moreover, the airshow provided an international platform for enhancing cooperation in the aviation sector, attracting experts, decision-makers, and major organisations from around the world.

The event featured the latest technologies, explored the future of aviation, and displayed a wide variety of aircraft in the open-air exhibition space.

UAE Defence Companies: The Airshow’s Participation Reflects Strong Relations with Egypt

 

H.E. Mona Ahmed Al Jaber, Chairwoman of the Emirates Defence Companies Council, expressed the Council’s commitment to participating in the first edition of Egypt International AirShow in Alamein.

The UAE’s participation through its national pavilion underscores its deep and fraternal relations with Egypt.

Moreover, Al Jaber noted that the UAE’s pavilion featured the presence of the UAE Ministry of Defence, the Tawazun Council, and nine leading Emirati companies specialising in aviation and space industries.

They showcased over 50 products and specialised systems, including the pride of Emirati manufacturing, the unmanned aircraft “Garmoosha” and the attack aircraft “Shadow 50.”

She emphasised that aerospace exhibitions contribute significantly to advancing defence industries and innovation, viewing the Alamein event as an important opportunity to highlight achievements, discuss developments, and explore the latest aviation technologies.

With growing interest in defence and aviation industries, both are seen as vital contributors to the economic strength of nations.

Al Jaber noted that the UAE’s participation in the show is an excellent opportunity to present its latest products and technical solutions to markets across various continents.

Furthermore, she congratulated the organisers for hosting a successful inaugural event, which attracted over 100 countries and more than 300 entities.

“Alamein is a shining example of Egypt’s urban development and progress, enhancing its position on the regional and global stage,” she added.

 

She concluded by wishing Egypt continued success in future editions of the show and extended her appreciation to the Egyptian Air Force for their fruitful cooperation in facilitating the UAE’s participation in this significant event.

 

El-Sisi Inspects UAE Pavilion at Egypt International Airshow

 

His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt toured the United Arab Emirates pavilion at Egypt International Airshow 2024.

During his tour, he received a detailed briefing from Mona Ahmed Al Jaber, Chairwoman of the Emirates Defence Companies Council, who highlighted the UAE’s strong participation in this landmark event as a testament to the deep cooperation between the two fraternal nations.

Both Egypt and the UAE share common visions and ambitions in addressing future needs through advanced defence industries.

Moreover, Al Jaber pointed out that the UAE’s pavilion featured more than nine companies under the “Made in UAE” banner, showcasing over 50 Emirati products.

Among these were the unmanned aircraft “Shadow 50” and the fighter aircraft “Garmoosha,” the latter named after a female falcon, symbolising power and precision.

During his visit, President El-Sisi also inspected the displays of national and international companies participating in the event.

Accompanied by senior officials, El-Sisi toured various civil and military aircraft on display at Alamein International Airport.

The president and the distinguished guests were later treated to an aerial performance, which included a show by the Egyptian aerobatic team, the Silver Stars, followed by solo demonstrations from the French Rafale fighter jet and the UAE’s Mirage 2000.

Other impressive performances included a solo flight by the Saudi Eurofighter Typhoon and the debut of the Chinese “White Wing” aircraft, participating in an international air show for the first time.

 

UAE Air Force Displays Impress Spectators

 

Egypt International Airshow 2024 featured an outstanding and diverse aerial display, including a solo performance by the UAE Air Force’s Mirage 2000, piloted by Emirati aviator Murshed Al Baloushi. His exhilarating manoeuvres captivated the audience, showcasing exceptional skill and control.

 

These high-level performances demonstrated the advanced capabilities and precision of UAE pilots, a result of rigorous training and extensive experience, as well as the cutting-edge technology used in the participating aircraft.

 

The UAE Air Force participated with a pavilion representing over nine Emirati companies, highlighting their products, including the “Shadow 50” drone system.

Developed and manufactured in the UAE, the “Shadow 50” is a versatile unmanned aerial vehicle designed for reconnaissance, surveillance, and support in military operations.

As a part of the UAE’s initiative to localise military technology and defence systems, the Shadow 50 reflects the country’s progress in domestic defence industries.

The aircraft utilises advanced technologies, enabling efficient performance in a variety of weather and geographic conditions.

Another highlight of the UAE’s contributions was the “Garmoosha” fighter, renowned for its manoeuvrability and precision in airstrikes. Equipped with modern technologies, this aircraft is considered a major asset in air defence.

Its name, rooted in Emirati culture and symbolising strength and courage, reflects the nation’s commitment to enhancing its defensive capabilities and advancing military equipment independently.

Additionally, the UAE Air Force showcased 11 F-16 fighter jets alongside various other Emirati combat aircraft.

 

Egypt International Airshow Concludes Its Activities

 

Egypt International Airshow concluded on September 5, 2024, after three days of global participation. The event attracted numerous experts from the aviation, aerospace, and defence sectors worldwide, including leaders of international and regional organisations specialising in civil aviation.

Moreover, the Airshow featured world-class aerial displays in the skies over Alamein, captivating attendees with the latest aerospace technology.

The UAE’s national pavilion was a standout feature of the event, drawing visits from high-ranking military officials and receiving thousands of visitors.

Attendees had the opportunity to explore the state-of-the-art defence aircraft and military technologies developed in the UAE.

 

At the end of the exhibition, the UAE delegation presented commemorative shields to air force leaders from various participating nations, strengthening ties and fostering further collaboration in the development of defence industries and the exchange of military expertise.
