Britain Tests New Unmanned Boats for Maritime Mine Countermeasures

The UK Ministry of Defence successfully tested the “Apollo” unmanned boats developed by the French company Thales, which are designed for maritime mine countermeasures. These boats have demonstrated their capabilities in mine detection.

By utilizing these boats, the British Navy will be able to effectively ensure the safety of navigation and avoid exposing ship crews to risks.

The Apollo boats are equipped with a range of advanced sensors, including radar and infrared electro-optical cameras. They are also equipped with secure data transmission technologies to control centres, allowing them to navigate safely without colliding with any objects in the water.

Thales is actively coordinating with France and Britain to provide both countries with the mentioned boat systems by 2024.
