The People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has been equipped with the Red Arrow-12 anti-tank missile system, also known as HJ-12.
The Red Arrow-12 is a third-generation anti-tank missile system, similar to the American FGM-148 Javelin missile system.
This system comes with a thermal imaging device and operates on a “fire and forget” principle. The missile has a diameter of 135 mm, which is about 20 mm larger than the Javelin missile and comes equipped with an 8.4 kg warhead.
This reusable launcher weighs 17 kg and includes a launch tube with a length of 1.25 meters.
Its effective range is from 75 to 4000 meters. The cost of the missile system is approximately $18,000, with the production cost of the missile itself being $7,000.
