Chinese Aircraft Carrier Fujian Conducts Maiden Trials

The third Chinese aircraft carrier, Fujian, has embarked on its maiden sea trials, departing the shipyard in Shanghai.

The sea trials will primarily test the reliability and stability of the carrier’s propulsion and electrical systems.

Since its launch in June 2022, Fujian has completed dock trials, outfitting works, and equipment modifications, meeting the technical requirements for sea trials.

Fujian is a third-generation Type 003 carrier entirely designed and manufactured in China.

Moreover, it is the most advanced Chinese carrier to date and features a length of 320 metres and a width of 73 metres, it is capable of carrying fighter jets with foldable wings, fixed-wing unmanned aircraft, as well as early warning and control aircraft.
