France tests VSR700 Tactical Drone

France has tested the flight capability of its latest VSR700 tactical drone and successfully flew the drone over water for 9 hours.

“The test focused on the drone’s ability to take off and land automatically, under favourable conditions,” stated the French defence procurement agency (DGA).

“The VSR700 VTOL passed an important milestone in its development, and its tests can continue within a year,” the DGA added.

The VSR700 is based on the Guimbal-built Cabri G2 light helicopter and is equipped with a ship location system transponder, maritime surveillance radar, and an optronic ball camera.

The drone is designed to fly for eight hours and up to 150 kilometres.
