Italy is manufacturing maritime support and supply ships for its navy.
The shipbuilding basin of Fincantieri saw a ceremony dedicated to the start of the development process for a new LSS class support and supply ship for the Italian army.
This new ship, called Atlant, is scheduled for delivery to the army in 2025.
Italian LSS ships are designed to provide ships and naval vessels with fuel, water, food, equipment, and ammunition. They carry equipment for maintaining ships at sea and feature a medical unit that includes an operating room, a laboratory, radiography equipment, and medical wards that can accommodate up to 17 patients.
