Russia’s defence industry has made significant strides in expanding its military capabilities with the introduction of the Kh-BPLA guided missile, a new weapon designed for deployment from unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and helicopters. This missile marks a major advancement in drone-launched munitions.
Specifically developed for UAVs, the Kh-BPLA is intended to target ground and surface threats, including enemy personnel and lightly armoured vehicles.
The Kh-BPLA is guided by a reflected laser beam, allowing it to strike targets with precision at distances of up to 8 kilometres and altitudes of up to 4,000 metres.
The guidance system is likely to incorporate technology from the Krasnopol artillery system, ensuring pinpoint accuracy as the UAV illuminates the target until impact.
