South Korea Deploys New Amphibious Bridging Vehicle

The South Korean army has deployed the new “KM3” amphibious bridging vehicle for the first time, as part of efforts to enhance the readiness and capabilities of its forces in river-crossing operations.

The KM3 amphibious bridging vehicle facilitates swift manoeuvres for troops across streams and rivers by functioning as either a bridge or a ferry to transport various heavy equipment, including tanks and armoured vehicles.

According to the army, unlike the current floating ribbon bridges, which require approximately six hours of preparation, the KM3 vehicle requires no setup time.

Additionally, it can transport up to 64 tonnes of equipment, which is 10 tonnes more than the floating ribbon bridges.
