The Taiwanese Ministry of National Defence has introduced prototypes of a new tank destroyer and other armoured vehicles, equipped with a 105mm gun.
Code-named D1 and D2, the two prototypes are currently undergoing performance trials.
Although the test results have been satisfactory, the Taiwanese military aims to reduce the gun’s height from 3.3 metres to 3 metres, necessitating modifications to the gun turret’s interior design.
The D2 prototype includes design adjustments to enhance protection against small-calibre ammunition, 12.7mm rounds, and RPG shells. Additionally, it features improved situational awareness through an EO/IR external camera for comprehensive vision.
