Taiwan’s navy took delivery of a new, domestically made amphibious warship, which can be used to land troops and is the biggest ship the Taiwanese navy has so far.
The 153 m long and 23 m wide Yu Shan, has a water displacement rate of 10,600 tons and can reach speeds up to 21.5 nautical knots.
With a range of 7,000 nautical miles per mission, the Yu Shan features platforms designed to carry armored vehicles, military machinery, and Hummer armored vehicles, as well as platforms that can carry SH-60/MH-60 Seahawk helicopters, and the capacity to transport 673 marines.
Furthermore, the ship is equipped with 32 TC-2N anti-aircraft missiles, 76mm cannons, and CIWS Phalanx 20mm machine guns for protection.
