Raytheon UK, in collaboration with the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory Dstl and Defence Equipment & Support DE&S, has successfully tested a high-energy laser weapon system HELWS.
This groundbreaking test, the first of its kind conducted in the UK, resulted in the successful downing of a lightweight drone.
The HELWS is a light and portable system, fully operational when mounted on the British Army’s Wolfhound 6×6 armoured vehicle.
The portable laser weapon project aims to address the increasing aerial threat posed by drone warfare.
