US Army Receives Next-Gen Naval Destroyer

The US Navy has received a modified Arleigh Burke-class naval destroyer. Huntington Ingalls Industries, an American company, has delivered the Jack H. Lucas ship to the US Navy, the first modified Arleigh Burke-class Flight III destroyer.

Unlike previous Arleigh Burke-class ships, the new ship comes equipped with the AN/SPY-6(V)1 radar, which is capable of simultaneously detecting ballistic missiles and cruise missiles.

The new ship has a length of 155 metres and a water displacement of 9,700 tons. These ships can transport 300 personnel at a speed of 30 knots and have a range of 4,400 nautical miles on each mission.
