Commemoration Day: A Day of Pride and Sacrifice

Each year on November 30, Commemoration Day stands as a defining moment in the history and future of our nation.

It is a day when the country remembers and honours its brave martyrs, who made the ultimate sacrifice for the security and prosperity of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

This day marks a solemn remembrance, celebrating the courage of those who have given their lives, immortalising their memories, and reflecting on their remarkable acts of heroism and selflessness.

Moreover, it is a national occasion where the entire nation unites in pride, paying tribute to the martyrs who exemplified bravery and honour on the battlefield.

Commemoration Day is a day of generosity and sacrifice. Martyrs offer their lives, the most valuable gift they can give, to elevate the nation’s stature, safeguard its unity, protect its resources, maintain its security and keep the UAE’s flag soaring high as a testament to their sacrifice.

Nations are built on sacrifice, and every nation has its martyrs. Martyrdom is one of the highest and most noble acts a person can offer to their country.

The UAE will never forget the sacrifices of its children. The nation has immortalized its martyrs through Commemoration Day, ensuring that their memory serves as a beacon for future generations.

These generations will be entrusted with preserving the legacy of the fallen, upholding peace, and defending the pillars of the union. Their stories of heroism and sacrifice will remain a source of pride and inspiration for years to come, reminding everyone of the hardships faced and the sacrifices made to protect the homeland.

“We will remain loyal to the values and principles for which our martyrs sacrificed their lives,” said His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, highlighting the nation’s unwavering commitment to honouring the contributions of its martyrs.

His words reflect the enduring stance of the UAE, tracing back to the time of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who championed justice and supported the oppressed, standing firm against tyranny and aggression.

The UAE has always been ready to assist its neighbours and vulnerable communities across the Arab world, including Yemen.

The UAE’s daily achievements are a constant reminder of the martyrs who defended this beloved nation with their lives. Without their sacrifices, we would not have reached the heights of glory and success we enjoy today.

These martyrs represent the values of tolerance and human brotherhood, embodying the words of our beloved Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, who said, “The believer to another believer is like a building whose different parts support each other.”

May martyrs rest in eternal peace in the gardens of their Lord, while the UAE stands tall and proud, a free nation, built by the hands and sacrifices of its people.
