In an unprecedented move, Dubai inaugurated the Civil Defence’s first floating and sustainable firefighting centre in the world. This innovation solidifies Dubai’s global leadership in adopting and implementing innovative solutions to enhance the quality of life, making it one of the safest cities globally.
The new floating centre boasts high efficiency in covering and securing maritime events more effectively and rapidly, reinforcing Dubai’s leadership in achieving record response times to maritime incidents reaching the target in approximately 4 minutes and reducing material costs by 70% compared to other maritime firefighting centres.
The centre includes an operations room linked to the main operations room of Dubai Civil Defence, receiving notifications for waterfront or water-adjacent fire incidents, additionally, it boasts a capacity for up to 16 personnel, fully prepared for emergencies.
Moreover, this innovation relies on solar panels to generate a portion of its energy requirements, supported by four powerful propulsion engines to ensure a swift transition to accident sites.
The centre also supports fast boats and jet skis equipped for firefighting operations, ensuring quick movement to contain and extinguish fires as quickly as possible.
