Emirati Women: Leadership and Success

Women are a fundamental pillar in the construction and development of society. Emirati women, in particular, have proven indispensable in realising the UAE’s vision for a bright future, thanks to the unwavering support from the nation’s wise leadership.

This leadership has consistently uplifted and supported women in all local and international arenas, earning Emirati women admiration and respect worldwide.

Since its foundation, the UAE has established an inspiring women empowerment model, laid down by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

This legacy has been further enhanced under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai. Emirati women have now become a role model for women globally.

The issues of women, children, and families have received special attention from Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, known as the “Mother of the Nation.” Her initiatives and programmes have significantly enhanced the status and achievements of women locally, regionally, and internationally.

One prominent example of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima’s dedication to women’s empowerment is the launch of the “Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Initiative for Women’s Peace and Security,” in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence. This initiative underscores the UAE’s commitment to increasing women’s contributions to fostering dialogue, security, stability, and peace. It reflects the UAE’s dedication to supporting the vital roles of women in conflict and post-conflict areas, recognising that women are essential to achieving peace and security.
