The UAE Armed Forces are the nation’s shield and sword in the face of those who may attempt to harm the security of this beloved nation and its territorial integrity.
Today we remember together the efforts of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan in transforming these forces into one solid body to protect the country and its people.
On May 6th of each year, we celebrate a major event that constituted a milestone and an important turning point in the history of the UAE, as well as a major pillar upon which the edifice of the State of the Union was built.
Thon this day, our founding fathers decided to unite our Armed Forces and usher in a new era by Emirati hands, building and laying the foundations of a young country that managed during only 50 years to create a unique development model with achievements that won the world’s appreciation and respect in various fields.
Ever since that day, the men and women of the UAE Armed Forces spared no effort to preserve and protect this beloved homeland.
With the support of his brothers, the founding fathers, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan decided to unite the UAE Armed Forces to make it the shield that protects the capabilities of the homeland, preserving its sovereignty and prestige, and the sword that deters anyone tempted to compromise its gains or threatens its safety.
The sons and daughters of the armed forces have always provided the perfect example for painting an honourable picture of sacrifice to preserve this country, giving all for that goal.
Under our wise leadership, The UAE Armed Forces did not settle for maintaining security and peace for our beloved country and went above and beyond to provide urgent and long-term relief as well as humanitarian assistance in areas of disasters and wars, from Kosovo and Somalia to Pakistan and Lebanon, sparing no effort to extend a tireless helping hand, to once again reaffirm that the sons of Zayed are always present and fully prepared to extend a hand of goodness to all without any condition or restriction.
On this day, we never forget the blood of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the sake of our beloved homeland, knowing that they are always and forever in the heart of the homeland and its people and that their pure blood remains a covenant and an obligation to spare no effort to preserve the integrity of this beloved homeland, contributing to its progress and elevation and responding to its call at all times.
