The CEO of AI: New Position Reflecting the UAE Government’s Trust in its Ambitious People

The United Arab Emirates believes that the future does not wait for the hesitant; thus, it has embraced its developments and changes, entering the technological race alongside advanced countries in the field of fourth-generation technologies, with artificial intelligence (AI) at the forefront through national strategies and centennial projects supporting technical transformation and the integration of AI in all fields.

We have witnessed the diligent efforts of our wise leadership to meet all the requirements that support the field of advanced sciences through recent exceptional decisions made by the Cabinet, led by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.

Following the announcement of the appointment of a Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence not long ago, the Cabinet recently decided to establish the position of “Chief Executive Officer for Artificial Intelligence” in all major federal entities.

This move aims to adopt AI tools in these institutions and solidify the transition towards a new phase centred on empowering advanced technologies within federal entities.

This decision reveals the new phase His Highness referred to in the recent meeting. It is a phase that will place the UAE at the forefront of countries benefiting globally from AI applications by developing and implementing comprehensive strategies, plans, and goals that will also enhance innovation and the digital economy.

As government officials, we see that the “CEO of AI” position will pave the way for utilising technology in various fields of work.

Our recent experiences in harnessing AI in security and safety have yielded positive results that exceeded expectations. We have achieved global leadership in our field through the Environmental Preparedness and Civil Defence Readiness Program.

This program has created a link between the world’s continents, collecting information on carbon emissions from fires and communicating with the organisation responsible for that continent, in an initiative that is the first of its kind globally, proudly launched from the UAE.

Therefore, the new CEO position complements a series of ambitious decisions in line with the developments of the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It reflects the great trust our ambitious government places in its ambitious people.

Having a responsible and specialised individual in this field equipped with the necessary tools is a testament to the flexibility the government adopts and encourages in all plans and decisions implemented in both local and federal sectors.

Leadership is a school with endless lessons. Each phase of our governmental work has kept pace with global developments, teaching us to raise our ambitions and develop our tools. We have also become more firm in our belief that the future belongs to those who embrace it and that leadership knows no impossible.
