Flag Day is a national occasion the UAE marks by raising the national flag on buildings, facilities, and institutions nationwide to express gratitude, loyalty and allegiance to the nation and its wise leadership.
This day is a reminder of the enduring values of unity established by the founding fathers, showcasing the profound connection of the Emirati people to their homeland.
The annual celebration of Flag Day is a response to an initiative led by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, to launch a comprehensive national campaign to honour this important day.
Each year on November 3, the directive from His Highness is to raise the UAE flag in unison across government buildings, institutions, and federal ministries, symbolising the unity and pride of the UAE.
Reflecting on this patriotic occasion, His Highness stated, “We want to see our flag on our homes, farms, and facilities. We want it in the sky, soaring as high as our ambitions, as precious as our hearts, and waving proudly across every corner of our beloved nation.”
Flag Day embodies the spirit of unity and peace among the people of the UAE. It reinforces a sense of belonging and serves as a powerful image of national cohesion, vividly illustrating the collective pride of those who call the UAE home.
For Emiratis, the flag is a cherished emblem of pride and identity, symbolising dedication and loyalty to the nation. Raising the flag on Flag Day is both a duty and a heartfelt sentiment for all citizens, a symbol deeply embedded in the spirit and conscience of every individual, to be honoured and protected at all costs.
This pride in the national flag sets the UAE apart and represents the unwavering connection of its people to their land.
