Sheikh Saeed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Inaugurates ‘Yzaa’ Patrol Vessel

Sheikh Saeed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan inaugurated the ‘Yzaa’ patrol vessel on February 19, 2025, during the NAVDEX 2025 exhibition.

Operated by the UAE National Guard Command, the vessel is part of the ‘Shujaa’ class of patrol boats equipped with state-of-the-art weaponry, radar sensors, and electro-optical systems.

These advanced capabilities enhance its situational awareness and provide the necessary defensive measures to counter potential threats.

During his visit aboard the 50-metre-long and 9-metre-wide vessel, Sheikh Saeed received a detailed briefing on its features.

The ‘Yzaa’ is outfitted with two interceptor boats, allowing it to engage high-speed threat vessels, as well as a rigid inflatable boat for ship inspections at sea.

The vessel is designed to perform a range of critical missions, including securing maritime infrastructure, coastal protection, and contributing to maritime security operations. Additionally, it plays a key role in environmental protection, search and rescue efforts, and maintaining the safety of vital sea lanes by preventing illegal activities.

Developed and armed by Emirati engineers and companies, the ‘Yzaa’ patrol vessel was built in collaboration with Albwardy Damen, highlighting the UAE’s commitment to localising defence industries and enhancing their global competitiveness.
