UAE Launches First Mobile Clinic for Free Parkinson’s Consultations

Sheikh Isa bin Abdullah Al Mualla inaugurated the first mobile clinic offering free consultations for Parkinson’s patients in the UAE. The event took place at the Dubai Police Academy’s People of Determination Empowerment Council, with the participation of a distinguished group of local and international medical specialists.

This initiative is a result of the combined efforts of the People of Determination Empowerment Council, Friends of Parkinson’s UAE, Dr Vinod Mehta, and Professor Ray Chaudhuri from the Parkinson’s Centre of Excellence at King’s College London and Dubai.

The initiative’s primary aim is to provide comprehensive support to patients, including free consultations on managing the disease, adopting a healthy lifestyle, and offering guidance for those suffering from memory and movement disorders.

Sheikh Isa bin Abdullah Al Mualla expressed his appreciation for this pioneering humanitarian initiative and commended the efforts of Hudhaifa Ibrahim, the founder and president of Friends of Parkinson’s UAE, who is dedicated to assisting those experiencing the symptoms of the disease.

He emphasised that this clinic is not just a medical facility but a beacon of hope for many, playing a crucial role in raising awareness and offering free advice from specialists.

He called on the medical community to support this initiative, highlighting that societal cooperation can significantly aid patients in overcoming the challenges they face.

Major Abdullah Al Shamsi, Chairman of the Dubai Police’s People of Determination Empowerment Council, reiterated that the mobile clinic’s free advisory services reflect a commitment to empowering Parkinson’s patients as part of the community of people of determination, ensuring they receive the care they deserve.

Dr Vinod Mehta, a neurology consultant specialising in movement disorders at King’s College Hospital London and Dubai, highlighted the holistic approach to care, noting that effective treatment extends beyond medication to include a multidisciplinary team of physiotherapists, speech therapists, nutritionists, and psychologists working together to improve the quality of life for Parkinson’s patients.

Kimberly Pearce, CEO of King’s College Hospital Dubai, affirmed their commitment to providing all necessary support to ensure the mobile clinic’s success in serving patients.

Hudhaifa Ibrahim, founder and president of Friends of Parkinson’s UAE, emphasised the importance of launching the mobile clinic to make a significant impact in providing therapeutic and advisory services to Parkinson’s patients.
