As part of its Arctic strategy, the U.S. Army has initiated extreme cold-weather trials for the M10 Booker Combat Vehicle to assess its operational effectiveness in sub-zero conditions.
The M10 Booker provides direct fire support to Infantry Brigade Combat Teams (IBCTs) against fortified positions and lightly armoured threats. Despite weighing between 38 and 42 tonnes, the U.S. Army classifies it as an armoured infantry support vehicle or an assault gun rather than a light tank due to its lack of the armour and firepower necessary for engaging enemy main battle tanks in direct combat.
