UAE Ranks Among World’s Best in Healthcare Quality

The United Arab Emirates continues to solidify its global standing as a leader in healthcare, achieving top international rankings and demonstrating exceptional performance across multiple health indicators.

Today, the UAE holds the top position worldwide in the number of internationally accredited healthcare facilities, a result of its robust health system built on world-class standards and its advanced readiness to handle epidemics and public health threats.

Moreover, the UAE has also seen substantial progress in key metrics such as essential healthcare outcomes, infrastructure, and preventive care services, placing it among the top global performers in healthcare quality.

A major driver of these achievements is the country’s sustained investment in the healthcare sector. In 2025, the UAE allocated AED 5.745 billion—8% of the federal budget—to health services and community protection. This reflects a deep commitment to the continuous development of healthcare services and infrastructure.

On a global scale, the UAE ranks among the top 10 countries in 21 diverse health indicators and holds the 20th position worldwide—and first regionally—for healthcare quality. These accomplishments are underpinned by a comprehensive national health strategy, significant infrastructure investment, and the adoption of digital technologies in healthcare, along with a growing emphasis on medical tourism.

Dr. Muhaimin Abdul Ghani, CEO of Fakeeh University Hospital in Dubai, highlighted a recent milestone: the hospital received a prestigious five-star rating in the global hospital rankings issued by Newsweek and Statista. “This recognition places our hospital among the world’s finest,” he said, adding that it reflects excellence in patient-centred care, clinical performance, and medical innovation.

The global hospital ranking, considered one of the most comprehensive and reliable in the sector, evaluates institutions based on stringent quality metrics.

Recent data and reports further indicate that the UAE is expanding its healthcare investments, with projections pointing to significant growth in the years ahead. Healthcare spending is expected to reach AED 151 billion by 2029, driven by a compound annual growth rate of 6.7%. According to a report from the Ministry of Economy, healthcare expenditure is expected to rise to USD 26 billion by 2028. Meanwhile, an estimated AED 118 billion is earmarked for healthcare sector investments by 2027, with a focus on infrastructure development and enhanced public-private partnerships.
