Women are fundamental partners in building societies and are one of the developmental pillars that drive nations and communities towards prosperity and growth. Recognizing this, the leadership of the United Arab Emirates has long believed in the pivotal role women play in fostering dialogue, peace, security, and development both domestically and globally.
Under the gracious patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, President of the General Women’s Union and the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, the fourth cohort of the Sheikha Fatima Initiative for Women’s Peace and Security was launched. Her Highness lauded the significant achievements made by the UAE in enhancing the presence of women and supporting their impactful participation in promoting peace and security.
Women play an essential role in strengthening bridges of communication and peace, especially in regions experiencing tensions and wars. Women’s contributions extend beyond receiving aid; they play a substantial positive role. Research and experience have demonstrated that involving women in peacebuilding and conflict prevention leads to more sustainable outcomes, ensuring safety for women and girls and fostering societal growth.
This is the foundation for creating a better, more peaceful, and conscious future for the world.
In this context, we must commend the positive role and remarkable work undertaken by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak through her initiative on women, peace, and security. Since its inception in 2020, the initiative has achieved numerous milestones, including:
– Women Empowerment: Enhancing women’s capabilities in the military and peacekeeping sectors through continuous and sustained training and development.
– Increasing Women’s Participation: There has been a significant rise in women’s involvement in maintaining global peace and security.
– Raising Awareness and Education: Efforts are made to educate society about the importance of women’s roles in peace and security through seminars, workshops, and awareness campaigns.
The UAE’s leadership is deeply committed to empowering women in all aspects of life, providing the support and assistance they need to become active partners in their communities. As His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, has stated, “Empowering women is a priority in the UAE’s developmental vision,” underscoring his belief in the crucial role women can play alongside men, especially in the field of peace and security.
