What happens when you stop taking blood pressure medication?

The Gulf Health Council has issued a warning to patients suffering from high blood pressure who stop taking their medications when their blood pressure readings are normal.

The council explained that if your blood pressure readings are normal while you are on medication, this means that it is working, however, high blood pressure is a chronic disease and if left untreated could cause serious complications.

The council stressed that patients must refrain from stopping treatment or reducing the dosage without consulting the doctor.
