Since its creation 48 years ago, the UAE has been following a clear path in its foreign relations despite the rapidly and unexpectedly changing circumstances and all attempts to destabilize the Middle East.
Thanks to its growing political leverage in the region, the UAE today plays an instrumental role in the region across all levels politically, economically and socially.
The UAE’s contributions, for example, have not been limited to only offering financial and development aids to needy countries, but also included the participation in peacekeeping operations to maintain the international peace, especially in the Arab and Muslim countries.
In 2018 alone, the UAE distributed more than Dh28.5 billion in international aid to more than 42 countries around the world, in support of peace, justice, economic growth and elimination of poverty.
However, the surrounding developments coupled with the selfish and boundless thirst for the region’s wealth over the past ten years have led to the emergence of the so-called “Arab Spring” that destabilized the Arab region.
From the very beginning, the UAE has been in favour of the Arab hopes to decide their own destiny; yet things did not go as expected. An extremist group with foreign agenda has emerged with the purpose of stealing Arab wealth backed by regional powers, under the name of Political Islam, most notably the Muslim Brotherhood.
This organisation has been the reason behind many terrorist groups including ISIS and Al-Nusra Front and has unsuccessfully tried to destabilize the Gulf countries after years of planning and harboring pernicious intensions. Yet, they received a fatal blow in Egypt which led to their greatest fall after being hit in the core. This is why they spare no efforts to undermine the Arab unity with terrorist operations, and deconstructive militias.
This has been going on at a time when the UAE was doing its best to spread the values of tolerance and coexistence among all communities living on its land. Having been fully aware of the brotherhood’s malicious agenda, the UAE has managed to expose their true nature. This is why they see the UAE as their arch foe and are striving accordingly to demonize its role and spread rumours and fake news about it.
Despite all these malicious attempts, the UAE emerged stronger and tougher and is pressing ahead with this approach towards building a modern country with impressive achievements, following in the footsteps of the country’s founding fathers.
