Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defence Visits the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and Meets with Senior Officials

His Excellency Lieutenant General Staff Ibrahim Nasser Al Alawi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defence, and the delegation accompanying him, met with General Phan Van Giang, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, during his visit to the Vietnamese capital, Hanoi.

The meeting addressed ways of strengthening and developing cooperative relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Vietnam, particularly in the military and defence fields, in a manner that serves the shared interests of the two friendly countries.

During the talks, His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defence affirmed the distinguished standing and growing role of the Republic of Vietnam on the regional and international stage, commending the continuous progress of the comprehensive partnership between the two countries and the ties and shared interests that bind them.

For his part, the Vietnamese Minister of Defence welcomed Lieutenant General Staff Ibrahim Nasser Al Alawi, affirming that defence cooperation represents a fundamental pillar in strengthening mutual trust and deepening bilateral relations, and praising the notable growth in the avenues of cooperation between the two countries.

The two sides reviewed prospects for future cooperation on the basis of the “Letter of Intent on Defence Cooperation” signed between the two countries’ ministries of defence, and discussed avenues of mutual coordination and ways of advancing mechanisms of joint military action and cooperation in confronting various security challenges.

At the conclusion of the meeting, His Excellency the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defence received an official invitation extended to the leadership of the Ministry of Defence and to UAE national companies specialising in defence industries to take part in the third Vietnam International Defence Exhibition, due to be held in the capital, Hanoi, in December this year (2026).
