AimLock and FN America Develop Dune Counter-Drone System

US companies AimLock and FN America have unveiled the development of the Dune counter-drone system, an artificial intelligence-powered solution that combines advanced targeting software with a remotely operated weapon station.

The system is designed to detect, track, and engage unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in a semi-autonomous manner, reducing the workload on human operators while improving the speed and accuracy of responses to emerging aerial threats.

The programme comes in response to the growing challenge posed by low-cost drones on modern battlefields, where unmanned systems have become increasingly prevalent and difficult to counter using traditional methods.

Powered by sophisticated algorithms, the Dune system can analyse target movements and predict flight paths, enhancing engagement effectiveness against fast-moving and manoeuvring aerial targets.

The development reflects the defence sector’s increasing reliance on automation and artificial intelligence to strengthen short-range air defence capabilities and improve counter-drone operations in complex operational environments.
