China Successfully Tests the 1st Submarine Detection Device

China has successfully tested the world’s first device for detecting submarines, which relies on terahertz wave technology.

The tests were conducted in the Yellow Sea, and scientists used an artificial acoustic source to simulate the noise that propagates beneath the water’s surface, causing it to vibrate.

During the tests, the radar was able to capture signals with wavelengths ranging from 10 to 100 nanometers, even though such signals were previously considered extremely weak and difficult to detect against the background of natural sea wave motion.

The scientists who developed the new device stated that it has broad capabilities for monitoring submarines and can be used in other fields as well. The device’s dimensions are small enough to be installed on submarines, warships, and even drones.
