May 6, 1976, holds a cherished memory for all of us, marking a unique and historic event and a prominent milestone in the journey of the UAE’s Armed Forces.
On this day, the unification of the armed forces was announced, reflecting a continuous effort to support our federal entity, strengthen its pillars, and enhance its security, stability, and progress.
It embodies a historical responsibility that mandates working selflessly to achieve the aspirations of the UAE’s people and the desire of the leaders, officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers of the armed forces to unite the armed forces under one flag and one leadership to be the strong shield that protects the nation.
This day marks the beginning of a significant journey in building and developing the armed forces. The armed forces, based on the directives of the wise leadership, worked to provide the highest levels of capability and efficiency, allowing them to fulfil their sacred duty of defending the nation’s borders, adopting meticulous practical planning as a means of implementation.
All the important decisions outlined in the historic statement of unifying the armed forces focused on their development and the leadership followed up by incorporating all technological advancements in various types of weapons and equipment produced by global arms factories, procuring what aligns with the requirements of the technological era and the nature of the terrain.
Moreover, they continued to choose what was suitable for each stage of the development of our armed forces in an era governed by technology, modernity, and innovation.
Since the beginning, the leadership has focused on preparing the men and enhancing training methods, leading to the armed forces reaching a high level of efficiency and taking their place at the forefront of modern armies in armament, training, and management.
None of this progress would have been achieved without the wise leadership that recognized that the growing achievements needed protection.
They spared no effort and ensured that nation-building went hand in hand with building a strong and esteemed armed force to protect and defend the land, as well as support brothers and friends.
The prowess demonstrated by the officers, non-commissioned officers, and soldiers of the UAE Armed Forces evokes a deep sense of pride and honour in our hearts. Their ability to swiftly embrace the latest technological advancements of our time stands as a testament to their remarkable dedication and skill.
Whether through rigorous training, steadfast commitment, and active participation in bilateral and joint exercises or their commendable efforts during humanitarian missions abroad, they have consistently made exemplary achievements.
On this timeless occasion, I extend the highest congratulations and best wishes to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
Moreover, I extend these greetings to their brothers, the members of the Federal Supreme Council, the rulers of the Emirates, and all the men of the armed forces, leaders, officers, and soldiers.
