The UAE: Land of Action

Actions speak louder than words. This is a lesson we learned in the school of leadership. Just days ago, the UAE was highlighted in one of the most significant reports on competitive strength, which brought back memories of the late founder of the nation, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who once described the future of the nation’s renaissance, saying, “The desert taught us to be patient until goodness grows, and we must be patient and continue the path of building until we achieve goodness for our nation.” Years later, the captain of the renaissance ship, the late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, stated, “Our country will become one of the most advanced and prosperous nations.”

These words were not just read; they were lived through decades of progress across various fields such as education, economy, politics, medicine, and government work. Recently, the results have translated past and present leadership visions into reality. The latest achievement, as highlighted in the “World Competitiveness Yearbook 2024,” issued by the IMD World Competitiveness Center in Lausanne, Switzerland, shows the UAE advancing three places to rank 7th globally. This is a notable progression from last year when the UAE entered the top 10 list, surpassing countries like Norway, Iceland, Japan, Canada, and Finland. The UAE performed exceptionally well in over 90 key and subsidiary indicators, ranking 2nd globally in economic performance, 4th in government efficiency, and 10th in business efficiency.

We are proud of the unique Emirati experience, flourishing under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and the prudent directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE. With the collaboration of all teams, we are creating a model for the world in development, progress, and government work.
