The UAE Defence Companies Council participated in the 15th edition of the China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition, held from November 12 to 17, 2024, at the Zhuhai International Airshow Center in Guangdong Province, China.
Supported by the Ministry of Defence and the Tawazun Council, the UAE National Pavilion brought together leading national companies specialising in the defence, aviation, and aerospace industries. The exhibition held biennially, is recognized as one of the world’s premier events in the aviation sector, serving as a global platform for showcasing the latest innovations and advanced solutions in the field.
Expanding International Presence
The UAE’s participation underscores its strategic approach to expanding its international footprint in defence industries, particularly in aviation and aerospace. This initiative aimed to explore new avenues for strategic partnerships while demonstrating the competitive edge of Emirati companies in developing innovative solutions that meet global market demands.
During the event, the EDGE Group and Calidus showcased a range of advanced products and solutions, highlighting the nation’s capabilities and leadership in delivering cutting-edge defence technologies tailored to global needs.
H.E. Muammar Abdullah Abu Shehab, CEO of the Tawazun Council, emphasized the significance of this participation:
“Our involvement in the China International Aviation Exhibition aligns with the UAE’s vision to enhance its position in the defence and security industries. Through collaboration with the Ministry of Defence, the Tawazun Council actively supports national companies in showcasing their advanced capabilities and innovative products, reflecting the directives of our wise leadership to empower the national defence and security industrial sectors.”
He also highlighted the depth of UAE-China relations, describing them as historically robust and strategically vital:
“The UAE and China share a long-standing partnership characterized by continuous cooperation and growth across various fields. Our participation in this exhibition strengthens bilateral ties and expands opportunities for collaboration in defence and aerospace industries.”
Showcasing Emirati Excellence
Anas Nasser Al Otaiba, Director General of the UAE Defence Companies Council, echoed the importance of the event for bolstering the UAE’s global standing in defence manufacturing.
“Our presence at the China International Aviation Exhibition reflects the ability of national companies to compete globally through advanced technologies and innovation. We aim to present the latest locally developed products and solutions, which embody the creativity and dedication of Emirati talent.”
He further emphasized the Council’s strategic goals of expanding international partnerships, fostering effective communication with global stakeholders, and showcasing local manufacturing capabilities on the world stage.
“These efforts reinforce the UAE’s presence at leading international exhibitions, supporting the growth of national companies and unlocking new opportunities for expansion,” Al Otaiba concluded.
