Only brave men make peace

The brave and determined leaders in human history are the ones most capable of making peace.
This is what the lessons of history teach us. Nelson Mandela, who spent 27 years in prison without weakening his will, was the leader who chose to transcend a history of persecution, violence and racial discrimination, closed the door of vengeance and hatred, and opened the path of forgiveness and peace for his country. So did Gandhi, who challenged the British Empire at the height of its power and then devoted all his efforts to peace.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, is one of those whom history will remember with great reverence, because he courageously decided to confront the legacy of hate wars of the main conflict in the region, and chose to extend his hand in peace to Israel to find a path other than the dark path that resulted in many of the tragedies and sufferings endured by the Arab peoples.
The UAE did not initiate peace from the logic of needing Israel in anything. The UAE possesses economic power, political standing and military capabilities that make it capable of achieving its goals and deterring its enemies, but it extended its hand with peace because the region needs it, and because many of the problems of the Arab world can find a path to a solution under the peace umbrella.
The peace process began with halting of the annexation of large parts of the West Bank to Israel, an important gain. Peace can be an entry point for Palestinians to obtain their rights if their leaders adhere to the voice of reason. Relations with Israel will allow the UAE to be a strong supporter of the Palestinians in establishing their independent state and ending the miserable conditions in which they live. We all know that the conflict did not preserve Palestinian rights, but rather they diminished day by day. The current balance of power indicates that more losses await the Palestinians if they continue to work in the way that led to the loss, and it is not reasonable for us to cling to what has proven to be a complete failure.
The Emirati-Israeli peace was welcomed by the Arab countries that are aware of their historical responsibility and defend Arab national security against attempts to weaken and penetrate it. As for those who launched suspicious campaigns against peace, they were the ones who supported and financed terrorism and chaos, and allied themselves with the most vicious and insidious enemies of the Arab world. These are doomed to humiliating defeat.
