US missile maker Raytheon has announced the arrival of the first lower-class air and missile defense sensor (LTAMDS) built by Raytheon Missiles & Defense at the US Army’s White Sands missile range.
According to the company, the radar is the US Army’s newest air and missile defense sensor, providing significantly greater capability against a wide range of advanced threats facing air defenders around the world.
LTAMDS is the first of six radars planned for delivery to the Army in 2022 and marks the beginning of a series of extensive testing to demonstrate the performance and functionality of LTAMDS in an operational environment.
