Indian Navy Receives New Stealth Destroyer

The Indian Navy has recently taken delivery of a newly assembled stealth destroyer, with around 75% of the ship’s weapons systems developed domestically.

These include medium-range surface-to-air missiles, BrahMos anti-ship cruise missiles, torpedo launchers, and 76mm naval guns.

With a length of 163 meters and a width of 17.4 meters, the destroyer has a water displacement of 7,300 tonnes. It can accommodate 300 crew members and sail at 30 knots, with an endurance of 4,000 nautical miles per deployment.

The stealth destroyer packs a punch with 76mm guns, surface-to-air missiles, anti-ship missiles, medium and heavy machine guns, bomb mortars, and 533mm torpedo tubes.

The high level of indigenous content demonstrates India’s growing proficiency in naval weapons technology. This new stealth destroyer enhances the operational reach and lethality of the Indian Navy. Its advanced stealth features also make detection by radar difficult, providing a major tactical advantage on the high seas.
