France Develops Drone Swarms to Deceive Air Defences

France is seeking to develop new technology to deceive air defences using swarms of drones.

The idea behind this technology is to use a swarm of small drones to create a radar image resembling a large fighter aircraft. This would confuse and overwhelm enemy air defence systems, forcing them to fire at the wrong target.

The project is called the Autonomous Deception System Using Drone Swarms and is led by Thales Company and Bordeaux University with funding from the French Defence Innovation Agency.

The concept has already been successfully tested in flight trials using several drones. The next step is to develop more advanced drones and algorithms to improve deception capabilities.
