Rafale Fighters Enter New Era of Air Superiority with Successful MICA NG Missile Test

MBDA has announced the successful first test firing of its new MICA NG from a Dassault Rafale while the aircraft was flying at supersonic speed, marking a significant milestone in France’s ongoing air combat modernisation programme.

The MICA NG (New Generation) missile is designed to provide improved performance over its predecessor through a more efficient propulsion system, extended engagement range, and enhanced target acquisition capabilities. It is available with either an active radar seeker or an infrared seeker, enabling greater effectiveness against stealth aircraft, unmanned aerial systems, and other low-observable targets.

Despite these technological advancements, the missile retains the same dimensions as the previous-generation MICA, allowing it to be integrated onto existing combat aircraft with minimal modifications while simplifying the transition to the new system.
