Hanwha Aerospace has unveiled an upgraded version of its K9 self-propelled howitzer, designated K9MH, featuring a new “dual autoloader” system designed to significantly enhance its rate of fire and battlefield responsiveness.
The system enables the artillery platform to achieve a firing rate of approximately 8–9 rounds per minute, representing a notable increase in sustained fire capability compared with standard configurations.
A key feature of the upgrade is its ability to perform Multiple Rounds Simultaneous Impact (MRSI), allowing several shells to be fired at different trajectories and arrive on target at the same time. The system maintains a firing interval of around 7.5 seconds between successive rounds to support this capability.
The K9MH is built on a highly mobile 8×8 chassis and is equipped with a 155 mm/52 calibre gun system. It operates with a reduced crew of just three personnel, and has a strike range exceeding 40 kilometres and an onboard ammunition capacity of up to 40 rounds.
