Russia’s LazerBuzz System Enters New Operational Phase

Russia has advanced the LazerBuzz system into a new operational phase following the successful destruction of a fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicle at a range of up to 1,500 metres.

Positioned as a non-traditional and cost-effective solution, the system is designed to counter the growing threat of UAVs and FPV drones that increasingly dominate modern battlefields.

LazerBuzz addresses a key challenge historically associated with laser weapons—maintaining beam dwell on fast-moving targets travelling at speeds between 130 and 140 km/h. The system is now capable of executing a complete engagement cycle, from detection and identification through to the physical destruction of the target.
