Russia tests a new nuclear submarine for its navy

Sources in the Russian Defense Ministry announced that a new Russian nuclear submarine of the Yasen-M class will undergo tests before the end of the first half of this year.

Russia began working on developing this submarine in 2014 as part of the government’s M885 project, and brought it into the water for the first time in July last year.

The Yasen-M submarines have a water displacement equivalent to 13800 tons, the ability to dive to depths of up to 600 m, and a cruising speed of 30 knots. In addition, their hulls have received special designs and materials that make them emit the least amount of noise when moving, which helps them to be stealthy.
