Reports have emerged about the new Russian S-71 Monochrome missile, designed to be carried by the Su-57 fighter and combining characteristics of cruise missiles and precision-guided munitions.
Available information indicates that the missile has an estimated range of between 350 and 400 kilometres and a speed of around 600 kilometres per hour, while its warhead is believed to weigh approximately 250 kilograms.
The S-71 Monochrome is reportedly designed to fly at low altitude to reduce the likelihood of detection. It can potentially engage a range of targets, including radar systems, command centres, ammunition depots and missile launchers.
Reports also suggest that the missile features manoeuvring capabilities and terminal-stage target-seeking functions, which could make it more difficult to intercept.
