The United States Army, in cooperation with EdgeRunner AI, has tested the EdgeRunner-Camo military artificial intelligence model, designed to operate locally on tactical equipment and in environments isolated from networks.
Testing showed a 37 per cent reduction in error rates across multiple military tasks, including training, doctrine, logistics, weapons and tactics. The model was developed using an analysis of approximately 1.4 million conversations from the CamoGPT platform, providing specialised data for its training.
EdgeRunner-Camo enables AI capabilities to operate without a continuous cloud connection, enhancing its suitability for operational environments where communications may be disrupted or affected by jamming. Its ability to provide a more accurate and flexible military knowledge assistant could support personnel in making informed decisions in challenging battlefield conditions.
