US Army tests under the “Pegasus Charge 3” exercise have demonstrated the use of M2A4 Bradley infantry fighting vehicles to carry five FireAnt unmanned ground vehicles as part of the “Transformation in Contact” initiative.
The trials aim to integrate autonomous systems directly into existing armoured formations without the need to develop new carrier platforms. Lightweight, low-cost and attritable, the FireAnt systems can operate in swarms to perform reconnaissance, electronic warfare, counter-drone and anti-armour missions.
The test reflects a growing focus on integrated combat operations and the use of manned-unmanned teaming to enhance battlefield awareness while improving the protection of armoured vehicle crews.
