Sheikh Saeed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan has unveiled the Rabdan fast landing craft, developed for the UAE Naval Forces, at NAVDEX 2025.
The vessel is the first in a series of high-speed landing craft designed to support amphibious operations and is equipped with cutting-edge technology to enhance its operational effectiveness.
During his tour of the 20-metre-long craft, Sheikh Saeed received a detailed briefing on its advanced features. The Rabdan is powered by a state-of-the-art waterjet propulsion system, enabling it to achieve high speeds. It is also fitted with advanced sensors and weaponry, allowing it to operate efficiently both day and night.
The craft’s interior is designed to accommodate troops or cargo, with dedicated seating and a retractable front ramp for rapid deployment. Additionally, a rigid inflatable boat is integrated into the stern, allowing for quick deployment and retrieval while underway, enhancing its ability to conduct special operations.
The Rabdan’s capabilities extend beyond troop and equipment transport, as it also provides logistical support to naval units. Its secondary roles include search and rescue operations and medical evacuations, making it a versatile asset for the UAE Navy.
Developed and armed by Emirati companies in collaboration with Al Fattan For Marine services, the Rabdan fast landing craft underscores the UAE’s commitment to advancing its domestic defence industry and strengthening its global competitiveness.
