Turkey Achieves First Flight of Electronic Warfare Aircraft

Turkey successfully conducted the maiden test flight of its HAVA SOJ electronic warfare aircraft in March 2026, marking a key milestone in a programme aimed at delivering four long-range aircraft to the Turkish Air Force by the end of the year.

Developed by TUSAS in collaboration with Aselsan, the HAVA SOJ integrates advanced electronic warfare systems capable of jamming enemy air-defence radars, disrupting communications, and interfering with command and control networks, all while remaining outside threat range.

The aircraft is based on the Bombardier Global 6000 platform and powered by two Rolls-Royce BR710A2-20 engines. It boasts a range of 6,000 nautical miles, a service ceiling of 15,544 metres, and an endurance of 11 hours, enabling it to provide effective protection for friendly aircraft and missiles by establishing secure corridors in contested airspace.
