Russia publicly displayed the Peresvet for the first time during the Victory Day military parade in Moscow, underscoring its continued investment in directed-energy weapon technologies.
First unveiled in 2018, the Peresvet is believed to have been developed to protect strategic missile assets, counter unmanned aerial systems, and disrupt electro-optical sensors and hostile satellites. While its technical specifications remain largely undisclosed, the system is regarded as one of Russia’s most advanced directed-energy weapons.
The appearance of Peresvet alongside the RS-24 Yars, S-500 Prometey, and Sukhoi Su-57 highlights its role within Russia’s strategic deterrence architecture. The display also comes amid an accelerating global race to develop laser weapons as a cost-effective solution for countering emerging aerial threats.
